‘Little win’ for brave Lynsey

- By Graham McGrath

CERVICAL cancer campaigner Lynsey Bennett has said she is revelling in ‘a little win’, as she shared some positive news from her treatment in Mexico.

The 32-year-old mother-of-two revealed a number of weeks ago that she was heading abroad for treatment with the wonder drug Pembro.

Much like fellow campaigner Vicky Phelan, Ms Bennett is seeking alternative treatments to those available in Ireland in a bid to prolong her life. Ms Phelan praised Pembro for its affect on her quality of life after she received treatment with the drug in 2018.

Ms Bennett made the trip abroad after settling her High Court action in relation to the alleged misinterpretation of her CervicalCheck test slides.

She gave her social media followers an update from Mexico, in which she shared a piece of uplifting news.

She wrote on Sunday: ‘Soooo long story short, a lot of improvements on different things but, most of all cancer was measuring in my stomach nodes… 31 x 28. Now measuring 26 x 12.’

She added: I’ll take that, as a little win today as who’s [sic] knows what tomorrow will bring.’

Ms Phelan tweeted her delight at the news that Ms Bennett’s treatment was going well.

She wrote: ‘That is absolutely FANTASTIC news, Lynsey. I am so thrilled for you, and for your girls. Onwards and upwards.’

Ms Bennett previously revealed that she intended to set up a trust fund for her daughters Zoe, 12, and Hailee, seven, following the conclusion of her court case.

She also thanked those who helped to give her a ‘chance at life’ by providing funding for her trip to Mexico for treatment.
