AOIBHINN Ní Shúilleabháin has spoken out after being subject to the ‘misogynistic’ behaviour of a male driver.

The broadcaster and academic said the man became inappropriate after she called him out for parking in a family parking space.

She tweeted: ‘To the man who told me to “Just smile”, then “Give us a kiss, you look lovely” because I pointed out that he was in a parent & child parking space: Your behaviour is not okay, your misogyny is destructive & the world would be better if there was less of your selfishness around.’

She added that she had made a point to check whether or not the man had a child with him before calling him out.

Ms Ní Shúilleabháin added that upon returning to her car, some shoppers praised her for pulling the man up for his parking.

She wrote: ‘Back at my car a very kindly pair of shoppers commended my for pulling him up & told me of five cars of parents that haven’t been able to park because of the spaces taken up my people without kids. Just be less selfish. The end.’

A number of Ms Ní Shúilleabháin’s followers also commended her for taking action and shared their own car park horror stories.

A THREE-year-old girl has died after being struck by a school bus in Co. Tipperary.

The collision happened at around 4pm in the Castle Heights housing estate in Carrick-on-Suir yesterday. It is understood the girl was playing near her home when the tragic incident occurred.

The vehicle involved is a private bus which was being used for a school run. A number of children were reportedly on board and a male driver was treated by emergency services at the scene.

The road was closed yesterday evening pending an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators. The girl’s body was removed to the mortuary at South Tipperary General Hospital where a postmortem will take place.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses. They are keen to speak to any road users who may have dashcam footage from the housing estate at the time of the collision.

Gardaí are also speaking to local residents around the Castle Heights area. Anyone with information is asked to contact Clonmel Garda station on 052 6177640, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
