BOTOX-FREE WAYS TO PLUMP YOUR POUT

-

GloPro Lip MicroTip Attachment Head, €51.75, cultbeauty.com THE idea of microneedling is that it creates gentle damage to skin that then stimulates the immune response and creates more collagen, the protein that gives skin its bouncy plumpness.

This head is designed to work with the original GloPro (£199) microneedling tool, and has 240 tiny 0.2 mm needles which you roll over lips in all directions for about 60 seconds. It doesn’t hurt, just prickles a bit, but a group of consumers who used it three times a week for a month all felt that their lips appeared fuller. PMD Kiss Lip Plumping

System, €95, currentbody.com REMEMBER when as a kid you suctioned your lips into the top of a bottle to make them swell?

This is the more sophisticated version of that, using a pulsating vacuum to suction small sections of your lip. It’s not painful at all, but the increased blood flow gives a temporary boost to colour and volume.

And the manufacturers even claim that using it daily for four to six weeks can give a more long-term effect, as the suction stimulates collagen production. PCA Skin Hyaluronic Acid Lip Booster, €83, ninthavenue.ie YES, this active ingredient-packed lip balm from a well-reputed cosmeceutical brand is staggeringly expensive. But as well as having a trademarked form of hyaluronic acid called Ultra Filling Spheres, which helps to immediately hydrate and increase lip volume, it contains the same collagen-boosting peptides you’ll find in No7’s legendary Protect & Perfect.

Lip spa oil, €4.60; collectioncosmetics.com THE easiest way to make lips appear plumper is to moisturise them and add gloss. Moisturising fills in the fine lines and a gloss makes light bounce off them, creating an illusion of fullness that’s harder to get with a matte finish. This inexpensive oil has moisturising ingredients and a high gloss shine that isn’t sticky. The mint oil makes lips tingle, but I’m not sure it would irritate them enough to actually cause temporary swelling. Glossier Ultralip lip balm, €16, glossier.com IN NINE shades, this nourishing formulation combines oils and hyaluronic acid to soothe and nourish like a balm, offering buildable colour and a sheer gloss finish.
