LAUNCHING a season celebratin­g the Washington­s, Denzel and his son John David, this stars Washington Jr. Directed by Spike Lee, it’s the incredible true story of a black police detective who infiltrate­d a Colorado chapter of the Ku Klux Klan – first on the phone, and then with the help of a Jewish officer (Adam Driver).

MILITARY HISTORY Al Murray: Why Do The Brits Win Every War?, 9pm, Sky History

IN A new series that is slightly more analytical than it sounds, Al Murray is joined by representa­tives of past foes to learn about Britain’s military record. His first guest is First Dates maitre d’ Fred Sirieix (pictured), and his first topic is the Napoleonic Wars.

AMERICAN LAUGHS Young Sheldon/Duncanvill­e, 9pm/10pm, E4

THE sweet but snappy Big Bang Theory prequel begins its new, fourth season, as the young genius (Iain Armitage) graduates from high school. Completing a US double bill at 10pm is the new season of the lively animated comedy about 15-year-old Duncan.

SCARY TALES American Horror Story, Disney+

THE return of the slick US horror anthology that’s past its peak, but has such a good core cast that it’s always worth a look. Frances Conroy is especially good in Double Feature, a two-part story set by the sea and the sand that makes an evocative start.

COMEDY CHALLENGE Outsiders, 10pm, Dave

CREATING an outdoor shelter is the aim in this new episode of the entertaini­ng outdoor challenge. Competing duo Ed Gamble and Lou Sanders are ahead of the game as usual, at least in terms of laughs – while Jamali Maddix finds himself on the wrong side of partner Jessica Knappett after calling her ‘love’.

YOUNG LIVES Peckham’s Finest, 10pm, ITV2

‘I’M an only child, and that’s my main personalit­y trait.’ So says model Isla (pictured), one of the

subjects of a new reality series that follows many young lives around the vibrant London district. Part one takes us to a modelling show and to a gig in a bar, and establishe­s a few intriguing relationsh­ips.

HEAVY LOADS Mighty Truckers, 10pm, Discovery

THIS new, real-life series really brings out the characters of its trucker subjects. In Germany, we meet Henri Tanzer, who loves his job and likes to have a stylish vehicle. Listen out for the variety of different accents they use to dub the various German people he meets in his travels.

MOVIE ROMANCE Cliffs Of Freedom, 10.10pm, Sky Premiere

HISTORICAL romance, set during the Greek War of Independen­ce of 1821. A Turkish soldier (Jan Uddin) who loves a Greek woman is conflicted over the Ottoman Empire’s brutal rule.
