PLAYER RATINGS

- By ADRIAN KAJUMBA

TOTTENHAM (3-4-3) TEAM AVERAGE 7.5

LLORIS 7 One nervy moment aside, a solid last line of defence. Tested once by Nketiah and equal to it.

SANCHEZ 7 Big job deputising for Romero. Shaky on ball at times but didn’t let Spurs down when defending.

DIER 7.5 Was safe defending in his box but also willing to step out and snap into tackles too.

DAVIES 8 Had to be disciplined after early booking. Made a number of key interceptions and blocks.

EMERSON 7 Was kept occupied by Martinelli but got forward well and had three scoring chances.

BENTANCUR 7.5 A much-needed, composed presence. His header led to Kane’s second, too.

HOJBJERG 8 Got through some vital work. Broke things up and started moves numerous times.

SESSEGNON 7.5 Provided good support to his defenders. Produced inviting deliveries from the left, too.

KULUSEVSKI 7 Always on the move and never let Arsenal settle. Cross led to deadlockbreaking penalty.

KANE 8 Needs no invitation in a north London derby. Arsenal gave him two and he took them.

SON 7.5 Took a battering but created two big first-half incidents. Scored one, should have had two.

SUBSTITUTES Bergwijn 6 (Son 72min) Moura 6 (Kulusevski 72) Rodon (Davies 82)

ANTONIO CONTE 8 A rare, priceless win against Arsenal and fully deserved. Team delivered for him.

ARSENAL (4-3-3) TEAM AVERAGE 5.9

RAMSDALE 6.5 Powerless to stop Kane and Son scoring but two acrobatic saves prevented more damage.

CEDRIC 5.5 Sloppy defending led to penalty, giving Arsenal uphill task. Clearance denied Kane though.

HOLDING 4 Plan to get rough to thwart Son backfired badly. First-half red ended comeback hopes.

GABRIEL 6 Eye-catching performer in Arsenal’s positive start but increasingly troubled as night went on.

TOMIYASU 7 Made one huge block to keep out Kane. Forced to play centre back after Holding’s dismissal.

ODEGAARD 5.5 Couple of shots aside, he struggled to get into the game, a task made harder after the red.

ELNENY 6.5 Played a key role tactically — cutting off supply to Kane in open play and stuck to his task.

XHAKA 6 Could not influence this occasion and let his frustration show more than once to referee.

SAKA 5.5 Forced Davies into early yellow-card foul but unable to put him under enough pressure after.

NKETIAH 6 Had Arsenal’s best attempt and put himself about at times but starved of service.

MARTINELLI 6.5 Kept Spurs on his toes with his pressing, energy and directness. Was Arsenal’s biggest threat.

SUBSTITUTES Smith Rowe 6 (Martinelli 64min) Lacazette 6 (Nketiah 73) Tavares (Gabriel 76)

MIKEL ARTETA 6 Positive start but his plans unravelled after his team lost their composure in the first half. PAUL TIERNEY 8 Instant and correct call for penalty. Kept control of a big occasion well.
