In a national survey by Drinkaware, Irish adults ranked the top tools and techniques for reducing alcohol consumption.
Top tool at 32% was clear information on what is meant by a standard drink, and what the maximum number of drinks a person should drink, while 25% of respondents ranked no/low alcohol drink options as a tool they would use to cut back. Almost a quarter (24%) of those surveyed would like a monitor to keep track of blood alcohol levels, with 23% reporting a calculator/app. Measuring cups/public information was noted by 21% of respondents, plus 19% found signage of weekly guidelines at the point of purchase useful. Dry January was seen as helpful by 17%. See drinkaware.ie.

The foundation was set up by Brendan (pictured, with Tom Tierney, chairperson) and Terry Ring following the death of their daughter Cliona from an inoperable brain tumour in 2006. See clionas.ie.

SKIN HELP
The Clear Start range by Dermalogica can help treat and clear blackheads. It’s recommended to rehydrate the skin topically before applying targeted serums, boosters and moisturisers. Why? Skin can become easily dehydrated, which in turn means tight pores that trap debris and more oil production to compensate for moisture loss. This will exacerbate blackhead formation and congestion. Dermalogica’s Skin Soothing hydrating lotion (€28) helps soothe discomfort and hydrate areas that feel dry. See Dermalogica.ie and selected stockists.
