Gunners train their sights on Jorginho
■ ARSENAL switched attentions to Chelsea midfielder Jorginho last night as their search for a new central midfielder intensified. Chelsea are open to selling Jorginho with the Italy international’s contract expiring this summer, and the potential club record £106million arrival of Enzo Fernandez from Benfica means they need to recoup funds. To that end, Chelsea have also shown a willingness to listen to offers for Conor Gallagher. EVERTON tried their luck with a £45m bid yesterday but the notion of a move to Goodison Park was dismissed by Gallagher who, should he leave, would only want to join a top six club. He will now wait to see whether NEWCASTLE or LIVERPOOL step up their interest. A loan is Newcastle’s most likely proposal and Liverpool were planning for the summer. CHELSEA are also ready to accept a loan proposal from PARIS SAINT- GERMAIN for winger Hakim Ziyech while Cremonese are signing Tiemoue Bakayoko.
■ ARSENAL, who allowed Brazilian forward Marquinhos to join Norwich on loan, spent yesterday deciding whether to make a third offer over £70m for Moises Caicedo amid fears they could damage their strong relationship with Brighton if they do. Leicester’s Youri Tielemans and Everton’s Amadou Onana are among others they have considered. BRIGHTON say Caicedo is not for sale and completed the signing of Sweden midfielder Yasin Ayari for £5m from AIK yesterday.
■ TOTTENHAM’S pursuit of Sporting Lisbon’s Pedro Porro took a twist as the Portuguese club called off the transfer despite a planned medical. Talks were resurrected with the price rising to £42m.
■ NOTTINGHAM FOREST hit a hitch in negotiations with PSG over keeper Keylor Navas and switched attention to another PSG keeper Sergio Rico. They are signing Jonjo Shelvey from Newcastle, Atletico Madrid defender Felipe and FC Cincinnati striker Brenner.
■ EVERTON are talking tostriker Andre Ayew, 33 after he cancelled his contract with Qatari club Al Sadd. They have also made a bid for Rennes winger Kamaldeen Sulemana and asked about Sheraldo Becker at Union Berlin.
■ SOUTHAMPTON, who also want Sulemana, made an offer to pay the £26.4m buy-out clause of Sporting Braga forward Vitinha, 22.
