The celebrity mums who are cleaning up with baby bath ranges

- By Lucy Tobin

MOST of us grew up with a cheap and cheerful Johnson’s No More Tears to see us through bathtime. But in today’s world of ‘mumfluencers’, only organic, beautifully-packaged potions will do.

Stars from Kylie Jenner to Spice Girl Emma Bunton have created baby bath ranges. But are these bubble baths and shampoos just another way to wring cash out of fans, or are they worth investing in?

With the help of her three young children, LUCY TOBIN ran a lot of baths to find out . . .

KARDASHIAN’S POSH BUBBLES

Kylie Jenner’s Kylie Baby Shampoo (236ml)conditioner (236ml) and bubble bath (354ml) all €18.99, kyliejennercosmetics.eu BEAUTY mogul Kylie Jenner, the youngest member of the Kardashian clan, launched her baby toiletries brand after the birth of her daughter Stormi, now five.

The range is small — a shampoo, conditioner, bubble bath, balm and moisturiser — but is free of parabens and sulfates. The attractive blue and pink ombre bottles won’t need to be hidden under the sink, but at €18.99 I was sceptical of the price tag — was it branding over substance? — but this is the only baby shampoo that didn’t have my toddler screaming about her eyes, and she loved the bubble bath. 4/5

BABY SPICE’S BETTER BUTTER

Emma Bunton’s Kit & Kin bubble bath (250ml, €11.99), shampoo and body wash (250ml, €11.99), body butter (250ml, €11.99), kitandkin.ie EMMA BUNTON co-founded baby skincare and nappy business Kit & Kin in 2017 because her children, Beau and Tate, then ten and six, suffered from eczema, and she struggled to find products that didn’t irritate their skin.

Now Kit & Kin has eight skincare products, a cleaning line and an eco nappy range.

The bubble bath made gentle bubbles rather than a foam party, and didn’t have much smell, but it was perfect for my youngest’s sensitive skin. We all loved the body butter, which left skin super-soft. 5/5

ANOTHER HIT FOR SATURDAYS SINGER

Rochelle Humes’ My Little Coco 3 in 1 shampoo, conditioner & body wash (250ml, €6.99), bath & body bubbles (350ml, €8.29), detangling water (150ml, €8.29), moisturising body cream (800ml, €15.99), boots.ie THIS Morning presenter and mother-of-three Rochelle Humes, former singer in The Saturdays, is a side hustle maestro. She launched kids’ toiletry range My Little Coco in 2020.

The bubble bath made a nice silky bath water, although it wasn’t very bubbly. The pump tops were useful when washing squirming toddlers’ hair.

And the detangling water worked brilliantly, but did leave a sticky feeling. 4/5

ANTI-ALLERGENS BY ACTRESS ALBA

Jessica Alba’s The Honest Company Gently Nourishing Face + Body Lotion (250ml, €11.85) conditioning detangler (118ml, €19.90), amazon.co.uk

FANTASTIC Four actress Jessica Alba suffered allergies as a child and started The Honest Company after developing a rash when using baby laundry detergent as an adult.

The body lotion was easily absorbed and made the skin feel softer, but the almond scent was faint. We loved the conditioning detangling spray — it made a detested nit hunt a lot less stressful! 3/5

FROZEN STAR’S BUDGET OPTION

Kristen Bell’s Hello Bello Premium Baby Shampoo & Wash (296ml, €6), hellobellodirect.co.uk

THE voice of Anna in Frozen, Hollywood actress Kristen Bell, a mum of two daughters, founded Hello Bello with her husband. The couple felt it was unfair that parents faced a choice between their baby and their budget. Hello Bello’s products are under €10.

The products all worked well, making for a super bubbly bath, and my toddler loved her silky-soft hair after shampooing. I loved the natural ingredients but I wasn’t keen on the chemicallike scent. 3/5
