- By Rob O’Halloran

OUTGOING Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp gave a special mention to young Irish superfan Daire Gorman in his shock interview announcing that he will leave the football club.

Daire was the star of a viral Christmas post on Liverpool’s social media channels after the 12-year-old Monaghan native had an emotional meeting with Klopp.

In his emotional exit interview, the 56year-old German said: ‘I know there are kids out there when they run at my car after games and want to have signings and autographs and stuff like this – they never experienced a different manager since they are born.

‘Only recently we met Daire, our friend, I probably have to explain it [his exit] to him as well, and I will, that’s no problem. I really will try to do all these things.’

The young Reds fan first caught the attentions of the Merseyside club when a video of his first trip to Anfield in September went viral.

The clip showed the youngster in floods of tears as he heard club anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone ring out inside the iconic ground for the first time.

In a follow-up clip, his mother Shelley explained he suffers from Crommelin syndrome, which caused him to be born without arms from his elbow down and without a femur bone in both of his legs

Daire – who has earned widespread praise for his positive outlook on life – was subsequently invited over to Anfield to meet Klopp and some of his star players, including Mohammed Salah.

Klopp told him: ‘This club is all about the people who support it and you are one of the most special. And I’m like you, really close to crying. Life without emotions, imagine how boring it would be?

‘You might think it was fantastic for you, (but) it was as fantastic for me, thank you very much.’
