LOOK WHAT I DID! Simone shows off big-name celeb fans wearing her designs

- By Helen Bruce

FRESH from the high of her critically acclaimed haute couture collection in Paris, fashion designer Simone Rocha is enjoying a wave of support from A-list celebrities. The Dubliner has shared snaps of actors Rosamund Pike, Chloe Sevigny and Paul Mescal, all looking stunning in pieces from her Spring-Summer 2024 range.

On her instagram page, Rocha posted a photograph of Rosamund Pike at the recent Bafta Tea Party in Beverly Hills wearing a tulle sculpted scoop-neck dress with hip detail and pressed roses from the SS24 collection.

The English actor earned a place on the Bafta longlist for best supporting actress for her role in Saltburn.

The post, first published on Tuesday, had earned almost 30,000 likes by yesterday afternoon.

Another photograph of American actor and model Chloe Sevigny, wearing the SS24 heavy satin offshoulder gathered bow dress on The Tonight Show, was praised by Rocha fans for its ‘new modern classic style’.

Kildare actor Paul Mescal chose Rocha’s new season cake embellished classic blazer and straight leg trousers to wear at the Dublin premiere of All of Us Strangers.

One fan noted: ‘The outfit + Paul = perfection.’

In a recent interview with Mescal’s co-star in that film, fellow Dubliner Andrew Scott, the pair said of Rocha: ‘She’s one of our best, most amazing Irish designers.’ The high-profile support comes as Rocha’s new bag style, The Valentine, hits the shops this week after being launched during her London Fashion Week show. Named after her daughter – but also very seasonal – the handcrafted leather bag comes in two different sizes and four different colours - black, nude, cream and oxblood, and is priced from €1,150 to €1,625. Her Jean Paul Gaultier-inspired collection in Paris was applauded by critics and VIP guests alike. Kylie Jenner, Gossip Girl star Kelly Rutherford, Vogue editor Anna Wintour and more were among the guests invited, most of them wearing stand-out designs by Rocha. Gaultier launched the initiative upon his retirement in January 2020 with Rocha the sixth guest designer invited to reimagine Gaultier’s work for a coveted couture show. ‘I was really humbled, excited and enthusiastic when I got the call,’ Rocha told the BBC. ‘I think it’s a real gift that he [Gaultier] has done this way of working. It feels really generous... to be so open to interpretation.’ As part of the process, Gaultier gives his guests free rein to interpret the Gaultier brand as they see fit.

Hand-crochet and manipulated Irish lace featured in the collection, which she said included ‘a nice mix of techniques that feel very close to home’.

Harper’s Bazaar deemed the show ‘a resounding success’ while Elle magazine labelled the partnership ‘a meeting of minds and beauty’.
