BUSINESS Plus was last night unveiled as new title sponsor of the 12th annual Irish Cricket Awards tomorrow night, a pinnacle event on the Irish cricket calendar.

DMG Media has padded up and gone into bat as Cricket Ireland’s Official Media Partner and will use its Business Plus brand for the title of the awards event: The 12th Business Plus Irish Cricket Awards 2024.

The event, in Dublin, will be hosted by broadcaster Alan Cantwell and former international Isobel Joyce.

Warren Deutrom, Chief Executive of Cricket Ireland, said: ‘We are delighted to welcome Business Plus and DMG Media Ireland to the Irish cricket family and thank Paul Henderson and the team for their support for Irish cricket.’

Paul Henderson, CEO of DMG Media Ireland, said: ‘The team at DMG welcomes the partnership with Cricket Ireland. We look forward to helping tell the story of Irish cricket and supporting the growth of the sport across Ireland for many more years to come.’

The shortlists were revealed last night for the two big ‘international’ awards — International Men’s and International Women’s Player of the Year, to be presented tomorrow night.

The 12th Business Plus Irish Cricket Awards 2024 will see 16 award categories recognising players, coaches, volunteers, groundskeepers, match officials, and clubs for the contribution they make to the game in Ireland.

Two of the most prestigious awards on the night will be presented to the International Men’s and Women’s Player of the Year. The awards are peer-nominated, with players all awarding 3-2-1 rankings to their teammates.

The Men’s shortlist includes Mark Adair, recently selected on the ICC team of the year 2024, Curtis Campher, George Dockrell and world No.3 ODI player Harry Tector.

The Women’s Player of the Year will come from Amy Hunter, announced this week as ICC player of the month for January, Arlene Kelly, Gaby Lewis and Orla Prendergast.

There will also be awards for the Inter-Provincial Series Player of the Year and Evoke Super Series Player of the Year — after a thrilling season which saw Northern Knights win the Inter-Provincial double, while the Scorchers and Typhoons claimed a trophy apiece.
