Jackson’s son at war with gran over €700m song deal

- By Dolly Busby news@dailymail.ie

MICHAEL Jackson’s youngest son has launched a legal battle to stop his grandmother spending more of the late singer’s €1.4billion estate… on legal bills.

Bigi Jackson, 22, formerly known as Blanket, is trying to block Katherine Jackson, 93, from continuing an expensive legal row with the estate’s executors.

The singer’s family have been locked in a dispute over the management of his posthumous income since his death in 2009.

Blanket and his grandmother took the executors to court in 2022 to prevent Sony from purchasing half of the King of Pop’s music catalogue for €700million. They claimed Jackson did not want his catalogue sold.

But after it was ruled that the deal could go ahead, and Sony made moves to finalise it last month, Katherine launched an appeal. Attorneys for Bigi told the court he did not think his grandmother’s appeal would be successful and that the big legal bills that came with it would devalue his father’s estate further.

Bigi, who legally changed his name in 2015, is the youngest of Jackson’s three children.

His real name is Prince Michael Jackson II but was given the moniker Blanket by his pop star father. In 2002, when he was just nine months old, Jackson famously dangled him over the railings of a fourth-floor balcony at the Adlon Hotel in Berlin to show him off to fans below.

Jackson later said he’d got ‘caught up in the moment’ and doing it was a ‘terrible mistake’ – a bodyguard revealed the singer

locked himself in his room for a day in shame.

The King of Pop also fathered Prince Michael Jackson I, now 27, and daughter Paris Jackson, 25, with ex-wife Debbie Rowe.

The singer was given full custody of the children after he and Ms Rowe divorced in 1999. They grew up with their father on his Neverland Ranch in California.

Blanket lived under the care of his grandmother after his famous father’s death.

He now resides in a €2.3million mansion in California which he bought when he turned 18.
