PETER O’Toole has put his foot in it again – or his arm, in this case, by raising it in a Nazi salute at the mention of Pope Benedict XVI. The Irish actor, 75, was attending an event in New York, and was asked by US columnist Cindy Adams what he thinks of the current Pope. He responded by giving a Nazi salute and said: ‘I call him Pope Hermann.’ He was undoubtedl­y referring to the fact the German-born pontiff, 79, was a member of the Hitler Youth organisati­on as a youngster, and later went on to join the army.

ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER, 76. The London-born impresario composed The Phantom Of The Opera, Cats, Evita and Jesus Christ Superstar, which he was told was ‘the worst idea in history’. He is worth €588million, and owns six West End theatres.

JOHN ‘JOCKY’ WILSON (19502012). The Scottish former world darts champion, right, reached at least the quarter-finals of every World Championsh­ip between 1979 and 1991. He weighed up to 17st and his sweets habit meant he lost all his teeth by age 28. He died in poverty in a one-bed flat. LEONARD ‘CHICO’ MARX (1887-1961). The US comedian was the eldest of the Marx Brothers. His last words were: ‘Put in my coffin a deck of cards, a mashie niblick [a type of golf club], and a pretty blonde.’
