Galway hope to underline title credentials
PEAMOUNT United and Galway United both feature heavily in Pass It On, the four-part documentary made on last season’s Women’s Premier Division which will come to a conclusion on RTÉ 1 this Monday evening. Unsurprising really, considering that the clubs had two of the best stories. Talent: Galway United centre-back Eve Dossen Peamount’s title win was a triumph against the odds as they are the only top team who are independent of a League of Ireland club and had some of their best players plucked by Shamrock Rovers before the start of last season. Galway were the inaugural winners of the All-Island Cup and have a team sprinkled with talented youngsters, such as centreback Eve Dossen. Phil Trill’s side sit comfortably atop the table, as they travel to Newcastle to face Peamount in a mouthwatering fixture (kick-off 5pm) . If Galway head back west with their 100 percent record intact, it will enhance their status as one of the favourites for the title. Even though it is early days, neither Athlone nor Shelbourne will want to lose too much ground on Galway. Shels will hope to collect all three points in Ferrycarrig against a struggling Wexford. The Athlone pair of Maddie Gibson and Casey Howe looked impressive in the 31 win over Peamount last time out and they will hope to link again as DLR Waves come to Lissywollen. Bohs host Treaty United this afternoon, while Sligo will be aiming for their first win
of the season as they welcome Cork City to the Showgrounds. SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division:
