Welsh team in tribute to skipper Ryan
THE Welsh football team paid tribute to tragic Derry City captain Ryan Mcbride last night. Wales skipper Ashley Williams presented a special No5 jersey to President Michael D Higgins before the World Cup qualifier against the Republic in Dublin. Fans at the Aviva applauded after five minutes, while James Mcclean – a close friend of the 27-year-old – paid his own tribute by wearing the tragic player’s shirt number for the Republic. Northern Ireland fans will hold a minute’s applause before their game against Norway at Windsor Park tomorrow night in memory of the defender who was found dead at home last Sunday.
