STAR Wars bosses have assured fans Carrie Fisher’s final work will be preserved in the upcoming film without Princess Leia fakes. The actress’s last performance will remain unchanged for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, with no use of holograms or special effects. Dismissing talk over how producers might deal with Carrie’s part following her death, Disney chief executive Bob Iger said she appears “throughout” Episode VIII, due out in December. He added: “We’re not changing Eight to deal with her passing. Her performance, which we’re really pleased with, remains.” Carrie died aged 60 in December after a heart attack. Fans were con- cerned Disney might use special effects to recreate Leia during post production, to explain her death. She was also expected to star in the next movie in the series. Trickery was used to bring back young Leia and late actor Peter Cushing as Grand Moff Tarkin for last year’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. But Mr Iger insisted at a conference in California: “We’re not doing that with Carrie.” He also told how the Han Solo film “picks him up when he was 18 years old and takes him through to 24”. A public memorial service for Carrie takes place today, at the LA cemetery where the star lies with mum Debbie Reynolds, who died days after her.
