Bosses pass the Buckie on egg gift

- BY MAURICE FITZMAURICE

BUCKFAST bosses have distanced themselves from an Easter egg branded with the wine’s logo and warned people not to buy it. The chocolate egg, which comes in a Buckfast branded box, is on sale in a number of off-licences including d-bees in Lurgan, Co Armagh. They come with a miniature bottle and a lighter and are said to be very popular with 2,000 orders coming in from as far away as Australia. But J Chandler & Co, which distribute the wine made by Benedictine monks in Devon, said: “Our products are for adults and we do not engage in any activity that promotes them directly or indirectly, to children and young people.”
