ENGLAND KEEP AN EYE ON DEMBELE

- BY JOHN CROSS

CELTIC hotshot Moussa Dembele is paying the price for France’s rich vein of talent – and that could alert England again. Manager Didier Deschamps did not call up Dembele for Les Bleus’ latest 23-man squad, despite the 20-year-old striker getting 32 goals for Celtic this season. Former England boss Sam Allardyce admitted, during his brief spell in charge, he considered Dembele and Steven N’zonzi because of residency. That door could still be open as the competition for places is so great that even France’s best young players are struggling to get into Deschamps’ star-packed squad. But this week Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, a fan of Dembele, said “it was only a matter of time” before he was called up.
