DINNY LOSS IS A BLOW FOR BOHS

Drogheda United v Bohemians 5.30pm

BOHEMIANS are reeling with confirmation that in-form striker Dinny Corcoran faces up to six weeks on the sidelines. Corcoran (inset) has stepped up to the plate in Izzy Akinade’s absence to smash five goals in the opening five league games. The striker has a MCL knee injury and it’s another blow for Bohs who are without Akinade and Eoin Wearen long term. Boss Keith Long said: “It’s far from ideal being without Dinny. We’re very stretched in that position already and

to lose Dinny, particularly in the form that he’s in, is a big blow. “But we’ve players who can play up front like Kaleem Simon and Jamie Doyle. It’s an opportunity for others to come into the team and make the jersey their own.” Drogheda boss Pete Mahon has revealed Ryan Mcbride’s death has had a huge effect on his squad. Mcbride’s last game for Derry City was against the Drogs last Saturday. He died at home the next day. Mahon said: “There was a sombre mood in training on Monday but it has put any of our minor issues into perspective.” Killian Brennan is still out for Drogheda while Richie Purdy is banned. Stephen Elliott and Colm Deasy are doubts.
