Stars mourn Silence Of The Lambs maker
SILENCE Of The Lambs director Jonathan Demme has died at the age of 73. A source close to his family told Indiewire his death was caused by oesophageal cancer and complications from heart disease. He had originally been treated for cancer in 2010 but it returned in 2015 and his condition declined in recent weeks. Hollywood yesterday paid tribute to the man who directed huge hits such as Rachel Getting Married and Philadelphia. Lord Of The Rings star Elijah Wood tweeted: “Sad to hear that Jonathan Demme has passed.” He leaves behind his wife Joanne Howard and his three children, Ramona, Brooklyn and Jos.
