Commuters warned over trains scam

IRISH Rail yesterday warned customers about a tissue packet scam on Dublin trains. Officials have cracked down on illegal and aggressive begging after organised criminal gangs started targeting the Dart and Maynooth lines. The scam involves a group of people getting on and placing packets of tissues on every seat. The gang members then ask passengers for money for them, before becoming aggressive if people refuse. Irish Rail’s Barry Kenny said at least two arrests have been made and security teams are clamping down on the problem.
