THE SUPERVET

C4, 8pm Rescue dog Marley is what the staff at Noel Fitzpatrick’s surgery call “a challenging patient”. Which is British for a bit of a nightmare. “He’s a one-person dog, which is why he grumbles at other people sometimes,” says his devoted owner Mel. Marley, four, is a champion at canicross – cross country running for dogs (yes, really). But he’s been limping recently and has been diagnosed with severe dysplasia of the elbow – which essentially means the joint is working abnormally and hurts. Marley will be getting a super duper operation to fix it, but owner Mel has concerns. “I hope he behaves and doesn’t go down as the dog that killed the supervet,” she says. Rhodesian ridgeback Tilly, six, needs an operation to relieve the pressure on the nerves in her spine. But it will be high risk. Will owners Andi and Michaela decide to go ahead with it? Meanwhile Noel treats an old gym buddy’s injured dog. And all this while suffering a severe case of man flu – what a hero.
