Irish Daily Mirror

three and easy for an unforgettable day in Kildare

- ROBBIE HYNES

WHAT a phenomenal season Robbie Power is having. To win either an Irish Gold Cup, Cheltenham Gold Cup or Punchestown Gold Cup is a hell of an achievement, but to win all three on the same horse is quite simply mind blowing. It has been a fantastic training performance from Jessica Harrington with this magnificent mount. He chased home the mighty Douvan over two miles many a time before being upped to three miles. And how it has paid off for team Harrington and owners Alan and Ann Potts. Huge congratulations must also go to Mirror man Bryan Cooper, who landed the Irish Daily Mirror Novice Hurdle on Champagne Classic. The horse was given little hope before the race, but our man expertly steered him to victory. Wind and rain once again hit Punchestown yesterday but it didn’t stop punters getting stuck into the action and the pints. Turf fans may still be behind against the bookies overall, but they’ll dust themselves down and go again today. And they just might come out on top!
