THE BOY TON GOOD

Goal-mad Kane hopes to join the Prem 100 club next season and fire Spurs to the title

- BY JAMES NURSEY

HARRY KANE is determined to fire Spurs to the title next season by clocking up his century of Premier League goals.

The England striker’s four-goal blitz in Thursday’s 6-1 thrashing of Leicester puts him in pole position to retain the Golden Boot. He has 26 in the top-flight this term and 75 in total from 115 appearances. And the 23-year-old aims to reach three figures in the next campaign to help Spurs go one better than the second-place finish this time round. Kane said: “It’s the first time I have scored four goals in a game in my professional career. To do that is an amazing feeling. “It would be great if I can get to that 100 club by the end of next season. I am on 75 in the league. “If there is another season like this then hopefully I can get to the 100. “It would be a fantastic achievement. Hopefully I can stay fit for the majority of next season and see if we can get that league title too. “I want to get off the mark in the first game and get a couple of goals and go from there and see what happens.” Kane’s four goals lifted him two clear of Everton’s Romelu Lukaku in the race to be top scorer. Lukaku and Everton head to Arsenal tomorrow, while Kane will lead the Tottenham attack at relegated Hull. Kane (above, congratulated by boss Mauricio Pochettino) added: “Going into the Leicester game two behind I was hoping to get one or two and keep myself in the race for Sunday. “But to get four and win 6-1 is not what I could have dreamed of.” Of the chance of being overhauled by Lukaku, he added: “I’m sure he’s not too happy but there is still one game to go and he will be determined to score a hat-trick. “But we have Hull away and I’m looking to get a couple of goals hopefully. So there is still all to play for in my eyes.” Kane reflected on how many more he might have had but for injuries which sidelined him. He said: “I had two big injuries this season and was out for 11 weeks. To still be up there at the top of the Premier League goal-scorers is a big achievement for me and I’m proud.” Next week Kane is planning a family holiday before England duty against Scotland in World Cup qualifying on June 10 and a friendly against France. He said: “For me getting away from it isn’t so much physically but mentally more than anything. I’ll keep myself fit but I will have a good break on the beach and chill.” Kane struggled for England at Euro 2016 as Roy Hodgson’s men crashed out to Iceland but has responded well. Spurs boss Pochettino said: “I think the most important thing is he is more mature and a more experienced player and he is so professional. “It’s difficult to find another striker like him in the world.”
