NDIDI: WE’RE SHAKEN AND SPURRED ON

- BY JAMES NURSEY

WILFRED NDIDI admits Leicester’s players are desperate to atone for their Tottenham thrashing. Last season’s champions were humiliated 6-1 at home on Thursday as Spurs’ Harry Kane scored four, including two in the last two minutes. The Foxes’ hammering is the joint-heaviest defeat of a Premier League champion alongside Manchester United’s 6-1 loss to Man City in 2011. Now boss Craig Shakespeare has ordered them to respond tomorrow when they host Bournemouth. Ndidi says last season’s champions are fired up and admitted proud keeper Kasper Schmeichel is particularly furious after conceding six. Midfielder Ndidi, 20, signed in January from Genk for £14million, said: “The coach says now we have to finish on a high, he wants that. “We really need to try and end the season with a smile on the face of the fans. We have to give everything to win. It is possible we will use the anger on Sunday to help us. “I could see the anger in Kasper’s face but everybody is sad. It was really disappointing. It is the lowest I have felt since joining. For the goals everyone is angry. “We really tried to get back in the game but Tottenham broke and after the third goal everything was not normal.” The defeat ended Leicester’s 100 per cent home record in the Premier League under Shakespeare (above), who took over when Claudio Ranieri was sacked in February. The hosts were made to pay for the costly absentees of Wes Morgan, Robert Huth and Danny Drinkwater. But Shakespeare is still expected to be confirmed next week as the Foxes permanent boss for next season.
