WHICH WAS YOUR CLUB’S BAD BUY OF THE SEASON?

-

ARSENAL: Shkodran Mustafi. Big money, big reputation, but big disappointment, especially since Christmas. BOURNEMOUTH: Jordon Ibe. Signed for club record £15million but quickly lost his place. Started just twice in league since November. BURNLEY: Steven Defour. Cost a club record £8m but has become a bitpart player. CHELSEA: Michy Batshuayi (left). Seems harsh as he netted the title-clincher but he hasn’t done much else. CRYSTAL PALACE: Steve Mandanda. The France keeper hasn’t played since November and will leave this summer. EVERTON: Yannick Bolasie. Not his fault, but a seasonending injury after 16 appearances made £30m look steep. HULL CITY: Dieumerci Mbokani. Signed on loan from Dynamo Kiev, the Belgian striker has failed to score. LEICESTER: Ahmed Musa. Hailed for his ability to play several positions but has mainly been on the bench. LIVERPOOL: Loris Karius. Brought in to be Klopp’s number one, but a calamity period drained his confidence. MAN CITY: Nolito (left). With City beating Barcelona to his signature, a lot was expected, but he hasn’t started in League since Boxing Day. MAN UTD: Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Chipped in with 10 goals, half of them in the Europa League, but has not been as consistent and dynamic as United hoped. MIDDLESBROUGH: Gaston Ramirez. Signed three-year deal in July, demanded to leave in January. SOUTHAMPTON: Harsh to brand anyone ‘bad’ but will want more from Hojbjerg and Boufal next season. SPURS: Moussa Sissoko. Came with a point to prove after a poor season at Newcastle. Impressed at the Euros but failed at Spurs. Dismally. STOKE CITY: Saido Berahino. Finally signed in January but has not scored. SWANSEA: Borja Baston. Scored once and outshone by cut-price Fernando Llorente. WATFORD: Kenedy. The Chelsea wing-back’s ‘seasonlong’ loan amounted to 15 minutes on the pitch. WEST BROM: Brendan Galloway (above). The England U-21 defender only made three Premier League starts. WEST HAM: Alvaro Arbeloa. Arrived on a free from Real Madrid and definitely left his best days behind him in Spain.
