If I fight again it will be against Mcgregor

Mayweather hints that Conor fight could get green light but he must talk to his team first

IF Floyd Mayweather steps out of retirement there is a “90 percent chance” he will fight Conor Mcgregor.

Giving a progress report after his protégé Gervonta Davis won in London, the undefeated champion claimed that he would be working on his side of the super-fight deal when he returns home to America. Mayweather said: “Conor has signed a fight contract. But unfortunately, I’m over here now, working. I’m always working. “When I get back to the US, I’m going to communicate with my team. I’ll call Al (Haymon) and Leonard (Ellerbe) and we’ll see what’s our next move. “There’s no rush. When I do make a move, it’s going to be a huge move. You already know, when Floyd Mayweather fights, it’s history. “The only thing I’m chasing now is my own records because we all know, in the sport of boxing, I broke all the records. “When the time comes, all the media will be at the event and it will be the same thing. I’ll probably be sat up here by myself, answering questions.” But Mayweather then went onto further align himself with the Irish MMA star and underlined why the fight makes sense, despite the two athletes coming from different sports. “I never said that,” he replied when asked if he could guarantee that he is coming out of retirement, but added: “If I do fight, it’s a 90 percent chance it will be against Conor Mcgregor. “He’s a professional and I’m a professional. He’s a stand-up fighter and I’m a stand-up fighter. When it’s all said and done, he kicks ass in the Octagon and I kick ass in boxing ring. “At the end of the day it’s still an ass kicking.” Mayweather also claimed that the fight may have to be made to fulfill the fan interest that has steadily grown around the proposed bout over the last 12 months. The American continued” “We have to give the people what they want to see. The fans of the world are demanding this fight. This is what they want to see. “We have to give the fans and the people what they want to see, to make them happy.” Despite UFC president Dana White claiming that Mcgregor (left) was in a better situation than Manny Pacquiao was when he met Mayweather for the ‘Fight of the Century’ in 2015, ‘Money’ underlined that he would be the ‘A-side’ in a fight against Mcgregor. “We do know that I’m going to be the A-side,” said Mayweather. “You look at my pay-per-view numbers, then look at his pay-per-view numbers. Look at my net worth on Forbes and then look at his net worth on Forbes. “I think I’ll be back to number one of Forbes pretty soon.”
