MCGREGOR: I THOUGHT I’D SOLD RANCH

- BY CRAIG SWAN

CALLUM MCGREGOR has admitted he was scared stiff at the moment he thought he’d blown the lot. The Treble. The Invincibles. The place in history. When Mcgregor (above) made his only mistake of the day at Hampden, everything was in danger of going up in smoke. Jonny Hayes (right) robbed him and had a two-on-one with Kenny Mclean which would put Aberdeen in front in the second half. Given the fact he’d only been plonked into left-back due to Kieran Tierney’s facial injury, it would have been the cruellest of blows for a player who has been outstanding this term. Mercifully for Mcgregor, the Dons blew their chance. Hayes and Mclean couldn’t finish the chance. By the time Tom Rogic hit the winner and the kid was standing with a winners medal around his neck, that key moment had been long forgotten by the celebrating Celtic fans. Mcgregor was also able to forget it, but admitted: “It was a pretty scary moment, aye! “Normally, when you make a mistake like that, you get punished for it, but, thankfully this time, we didn’t. “To be fair I think that was one of the only breakaways they had in the second half. “It is hard to explain that one. You just think you have more time than obviously you have got. “To go and do the Treble Invincibles it is an incredible achievement. “You are writing yourself into the history of Celtic football club and you know how big that history is. So it really is special.”
