A MODEL may be out of work for two years after she was hit with a glass bottle at a music festival. Katie O’donoghue, 24, was struck while attending the Longitude festival in Dublin on Friday. The former Miss Cork 2014 told of her devastation after the incident which left her with nine stitches in her forehead. She arrived at the Marlay Park venue with her boyfriend and described the event as “a bit out of hand” compared to other festivals she’s attended in the past. Katie said: “In terms of the crowd that was at Stormzy that night – it was a bit wild.” In a tearful interview on RTE Radio One, the model recalled what happened: “I felt this massive crack on my head. “I was bent over with the pain and I couldn’t see out of my left eye because there was so much blood coming out.” Katie’s boyfriend got her to security where she said paramedics arrived very quickly to attend to her. She added: “They tried to stop the bleeding before taking me over to the medical tent and I spent almost two hours there between getting cleaned up and getting nine stitches into my head as a result of it.” The doctor who tended to her injury felt a glass bottle was the only thing that could have caused the cut.

UNSURE

Katie is due to have her stitches removed on Friday but due to her current condition she’s unsure of what will happen going forward regarding her modelling career. She said: “I met with the plastic surgeon yesterday but he’ll just have to keep an eye on it over the coming months – to see how the wound and the scarring progress. “It will be 18 to 24 months before anything can really be done to try and minimise or rectify what’s been done. “I’m not really sure where this leaves me because I’ve swelling on my face and obviously with the scar on my forehead – it’s more of a waiting game to see how it progresses.”
