Late Late fails to hit highs with viewers

- BY CORMAC BYRNE

THE second episode of The Late Late Show drew disappointing viewing figures – but numbers are up from the series opener. An average of 496,500 tuned in on September 8 which is a hike of 23,500 on the previous week. But the audience numbers still fall short of its regular draw of 600,000. Last Friday’s line-up was led by Ireland rugby star Sean O’brien while Anna May Mchugh and Marian Keyes also joined the sofa for a chat with Tubs. A spokesman for RTE’S flagship show said: “The first two episodes of the new series had shares in excess of 40%. “No other Irish show consistently delivers these share and viewership figures.”
