BLIND Date star Al Porter has admitted he’s never been happier since he found love. The Today FM host will be celebrating his one year anniversary with his mystery man this December. And the Dublin funnyman has credited his boyfriend with making him a “more comfortable, contented person”. Speaking to the RTE Guide, Al, 24, said: “He’s going to kill me if I don’t stop talking about him. He’s by no means a shy person. “He’s a ver y confident person, but has no interest in the spotlight – not in a mean way. “He is so supportive of what I am doing. “The relationship has made me really happy in myself. It has made me a more comfortable, contented person. “It has taken a bit of impatience, careerwise, out of me, that whole rush to get more and do more.” The star, who opened up earlier this year about his battle with depression and anxiety, said he is “in a good place, but everything requires work.” Al said: “I’ve improved my diet and have been running. I take my tablets when I should, and I don’t take the risk of not taking them, which I have done previously. “Also you build a bit of a support network and I talk more openly with people than I ever did.” The multi-talented star admitted he still has his sights set on breaking the UK and US. He said: “There is no rush on me. If I need to eventually go to London or America, I can do it in 10 years and I’ll still only be 34.” Speaking about his daytime slot on Today FM, Al confessed he only now feels he has settled into the show, which is almost a year old. He said: “My settling-in period was interrupted by Blind Date, finishing a tour, going to Edinburgh – all things that were booked in before I ever knew I was going to have a radio show. “So only since the end of August have I had the opportunity to say, ‘OK, my entire focus is now my radio show’. I think it’s improved since then. The show is driven by my own curiosity and I really enjoy it.”
