U2 classic is no1 music that inspires us to work
BEAUTIFUL Day is the perfect song to get geared up for work, a survey revealed yesterday.
But U2 are also one of the acts Irish people deemed least acceptable to blare out in the workplace.
One in three Irish people polled thought the rock legends’ 2000 hit most inspired them for the day ahead.
Ed Sheeran was voted the most workplace-friendly artist gaining the approval of 51% of those quizzed – ahead of Coldplay and U2 according to research released by Linkedin and Spotify. Dundalk pop siblings The Corrs were fifth most popular with almost one in five giving them the thumbs-up.
Meanwhile, Eminem was deemed the least acceptable artist to blare out of the speakers at work. The rapper polled ahead of Irish acts Thin Lizzy, Westlife and U2. The study revealed 78% of workers think music made them more productive. And more than half of professionals believe it keeps them motivated.
Linkedin’s Wendy Murphy said playing music at work can other have benefits.
She added: “Listening to music can have positive effects on productivity, creativity and motivation levels – just make sure you’ve been considerate and consulted your colleagues before blasting Eminem on a Monday morning.”
The study also warned that music tastes can be divisive. Of those quizzed, 6% admitted to judging their colleagues by their taste in music and more than one in five said they think it’s rude when people impose their music on others without checking with their colleagues first.
And one in five admitted using music to drown out the sound of their workmates.
