NEW Zealand’s youngest Prime Minister has taken power – less than three months after becoming leader of the Labour party.

Jacinda Ardern, 37, clinched a coalition to become the country’s third female prime minister and its first Labour leader for almost a decade.

Labour finished two seats behind the centreright National Party in the September 23 election.

No party won a majority, but Ms Ardern broke a month-long deadlock to secure a three-way deal with the Green and New Zealand First parties.

Ms Ardern, who once worked at the Cabinet Office, has been compared to other young leaders such as Justin Trudeau and Emmanuel Macron. SHARON Stone adopts her most famous pose... in a chat about health.

But this time Sharon, who sat cross-legged in 1997 film Basic Instinct, was not out to entertain but to inform.

The actress, 59, who once suffered a brain aneurysm, was a guest at the VIP Conversation for Women’s Brain Health in Los Angeles. TWO homeless men were found dead yesterday as the Government came under renewed pressure to address the crisis.

A 38-year-old was discovered in the Temple Bar area of central Dublin in the early hours.

John Gallagher, who was 23, was found unconscious in a lane in Drogheda, Co Louth, on Wednesday night and pronounced dead in hospital.

Gardai said they are satisfied there was “no foul play” involved in either death.

Sinn Fein Louth TD Imelda Munster said: “It’s shocking to hear someone so vulnerable was without the basic care of a roof over their head.

“There’s been an issue, not just in Drogheda but in Co Louth as well as the rest of the State. Up until 18 months ago we had no homeless in Drogheda but that number has been growing ever since.

“We have estimated there is anywhere between five and 10 rough sleepers. That’s on top of the people that are already in Drogheda Homeless Aid or in emergency accommodation.” The Irish Mirror understands there were 4,132 people on the housing list in Co Louth yesterday, while there were 38 people catered for between Simon in Dundalk and Drogheda Homeless Aid.

Meanwhile, it’s believed the Temple Bar victim had been dead for several hours before he was found.

Former Lord Mayor Christy Burke said a charity worker saw the man in Adair Lane at 11pm and became concerned when he noticed he hadn’t moved when he returned later. An ambulance was called and the man was pronounced dead.

The Inner-city Helping Homeless charity counted 150 rough sleepers in Dublin on Wednesday and following this sudden death, urged the council to initiate their plans for 200 additional beds this winter as soon as possible.

Dublin Simon Community spokesman Sam Mcguinness said: “We hope another person does not perish in these tragic circumstances.”

There are almost 20,000 families and individuals on the council’s housing waiting lists in Dublin.
