Tarantino knew years ago he was sex pest
DIRECTOR Quentin Tarantino has admitted knowing for decades about Harvey Weinstein’s alleged sexual misconduct toward women. And the movie legend insists he feels ashamed he continued working with the disgraced producer. He said: “I knew enough to do more than I did. “There was more to it than just the normal rumours, the normal gossip. It wasn’t second hand. I knew he did a couple of these things. “I wish I had taken responsibility for what I heard. If I had done the work I should have done then, I would have had to not work with him.” Tarantino also confessed his former girlfriend Mira Sorvino told him about unwanted advances and unwelcome touching by Weinstein. Another actress told him a similarly upsetting story years later. He also knew whistleblower actress Rose Mcgowan had reached a settlement with the movie mogul. Reservoir Dogs creator Tarantino, 54, admitted he failed to consider whether the women he knew who had been victims were part of a larger pattern of abuse. He said although he continued to hear distressing stories over the years, he proceeded to make film after film with Weinstein which he now regrets. Revealing that he wrote the claims off as mere indiscretions, Tarantino added: “What I did was marginalise the incidents. Anything I say now will sound like a cr***y excuse.” The American urged other men to take responsibility for not speaking out sooner. He said: “I’m calling on the other guys who knew more to not be scared. “Don’t just give out statements. “Acknowledge that there was something rotten in Denmark. Vow to do better by our sisters.” Tarantino collaborated with Weinstein’s production companies on all his films, including Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill and Django Unchained.
