Is Simon’s goose Strictly cooked?

-

TV chef Simon Rimmer fears he is going to be “undercooked” for Strictly Come Dancing this weekend, after picking up an injury to his quad muscle.

Simon, 54, was unable to dance on Monday and Tuesday this week.

He was told he could resume only light training yesterday, putting him several days behind the other contestants as he learns his Viennese waltz.

He said on Tuesday: “Head in bits day! Injury means no training till tomorrow.”

Simon has been having cryogenic chamber therapy to try to improve his damaged quad. A show source said: “Simon has been the bookmakers’ favourite to go for a few weeks and he is going to need a miracle to get through this weekend.

“He is not the best dancer and has a race against time to learn any kind of routine.

“It is very tough to learn a routine starting on a Wednesday, but Simon is determined to do it and will go through the pain barrier if he needs to.

“He picked up the injury in the dance-off at the weekend during a fall, but he has strapped his leg up and will definitely keep dancing.”

At the other end of the leader board, Joe Mcfadden would have been given an 11 by Strictly judge Shirley Ballas if the rules allowed it. The head judge called the Holby City actor’s paso doble “outstanding” on BBC Breakfast yesterday. She said: “Joe was off the chart. Watching the control that this man had in his paso doble – his shapes, even the way he placed his fingers, his energy in his body, those double turns...

“I’d have given him an 11 if there was an 11, that’s how good he was.” Simon Rimmer has leg injury
