COWELL: FAINT WAS A HEALTH WAKE UP CALL

- BY MARK JEFFERIES Showbiz Editor mark.jefferies@mirror.co.uk

SIMON Cowell has told how his collapse at home was a “wake up call” – as he last night missed a second live X Factor show.

The 58-year-old said the faint was “very, very scary”.

He told a friend: “I have to work out why my blood pressure was so low.”

ITV bosses had expected Cowell back on last night’s show but he was still in pain and had concussion.

A source said: “He has pain in his back and was given morphine to help.

“If he rushed back he could faint again.

“He is on the mend but not well enough for a full night of live TV and its pressures.” Cowell was at his West London home when he fell backwards down the stairs.

His Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon was forced to step in at late notice for the dad of one as he’s still resting in bed on “doctors’ orders” following his hospital dash.

As host Dermot O’leary announced her on the hit show last night, she said: “I was given five hours’ notice!

“I was just chilling out on the couch with my daughter, it’s my only day off, and I get the call. I had to be like, ‘Sorry, I’ve got to go to work!’ She’s chilling with my mum.”

Alesha – who rose to fame in R&b/garage group Mis-teeq – continued to wish her boss well, as she spoke about her judging abilities. She said: “Simon and I have the same birthday but we’re very, very different.

“I’m honest but need to be here for the groups.

“Simon, I genuinely hope you’re OK, and wish you well.” Simon Cowell
