Liberian poll is postponed Bewley’s brews up for reopening after 2 years
A LIBERIAN Court has halted the presidential run-off amid allegations of fraud in the first round.
Former soccer star George Weah and Vice-president Joseph Boakai are due to go headto-head on Tuesday.
Police are now guarding the electoral commission. Grafton Street THE iconic Bewley’s cafe in Dublin city centre reopened its doors yesterday to the public for the first time since 2015.
It follows a €12million redevelopment on the Grafton Street site which had been scheduled to take six months to complete.
At present, service is limited to the ground floor which seats 250 people but that number will be doubled when the first floor is operational in January.
The Bewley’s Cafe Theatre on the third floor will open in March.
Spokesman Paddy Campbell said: “It’s a dream come true that Bewley’s Grafton Street is open again and that it’s finally achieved the beauty we’ve always aspired to. And at a functional level, customers will experience a place that has been designed so that we can deliver great service and the best coffees and teas in town.
“I grew up in inner-city Dublin and Bewley’s Grafton Street has always had a very special place in my heart. There are customers who have been coming here for 70 years, such is our legacy.
“And now there’s the opportunity to welcome younger generations to the wonders of the place.
“We hope that it will make people proud. Something unique in the character of Dublin has been missing and I’m thrilled it’s back.”
