ARMSTRONG STILL GOING IT A-LOAN

-

BOLTON

Madine 35, Armstrong 40

NORWICH

Murphy 90 ADAM ARMSTRONG was delighted his first Championship strike for Bolton turned out to be a winner.

The Newcastle forward has been borrowed for the season by the struggling Trotters.

And he pounced in the 40th minute to add to Gary Madine’s opener five minutes earlier.

Norwich could muster just a stoppage-time reply from sub Josh Murphy as Bolton celebrated only their second league win of the campaign.

Armstrong (above, celebrating) has struggled since banging in 20 goals in a loan spell at Coventry two seasons ago. He didn’t get many in a similar arrangement at Barnsley last season but was delighted to make a league impact at Bolton after a couple of cup goals.

He said: “The goal feels good but the three points feels better. We are five unbeaten now so the lads are doing well. Everyone is buzzing around the place and we can only move forward now.”

Norwich have slumped to mid-table after three straight defeats, and two terrible misses by Cameron Jerome didn’t help.

Canaries skipper Ivo Pinto, who played with a protective cast over a broken nose, was annoyed that City had come up short at both ends of the pitch.

He said: “We should not have lost that. This season we’re not scoring as many goals as we should given the chances we create. Then when you concede one goal it’s always harder to get back into the game.”
