MARVIN HAS NO TROUBLE AT THE MILL

-

MARVIN SORDELL emerged the winner from his latest clash with Millwall and their hostile fans.

The much-travelled striker scored the only goal after Matty Palmer set him up in the 70th minute. That gave Burton their first win since September 16 – and lifted Nigel Clough’s side out of the drop zone as well.

Palmer said: “I was going to cross it, but it wasn’t right so I took another touch and everyone changed position. They had a

6ft 5in centre-half against Marvin so I knew he needed it at his feet and he did the rest.

“For whatever reason, the fans here were giving him some stick, but he scores goals and he has won us the game.”

Palmer was unaware of why Sordell (above) is unpopular at the Den, but the reasons are no secret. In November 2012, a young Millwall fan – then only 13 – was banned for a racist Twitter attack on Sordell, who was at Bolton at the time.

Some Lions fans responded with their own offensive banner about Sordell at the next home game, which led to six arrests.

Millwall were convinced Jed Wallace’s sending off was both harsh and game changing.

The midfielder was shown a straight red for a lunge on Tom Flanagan in the 58th minute.

But boss Neil Harris did not spare his players, and said: “I’m disappointed with the quality in the group and that we haven’t scored a goal at home.

“My frustration is down to my players letting themselves down.”
