20 properties hit in gardai raids against criminal gang

-

GARDAI raided a number of properties yesterday as part of an investigation into an organised gang.

Officers seized documents and drugs during the course of the searches.

It is understood the criminal outfit being targeted are based in Cabra, Dublin, and are headed by two brothers.

More than 20 properties across the capital, Kildare and Wexford were searched by gardai yesterday as part of investigations into an organised crime gang.

Officers have confirmed they seized a large amount of evidence they believe relate to the proceeds of crime.

During a search of a house in Finglas a quantity of cocaine with a street value of approximately €3,500 was discovered and a 37-year-old man was arrested and is being detained at Finglas Garda station.

Gardai confirmed searches are ongoing.

The raids come just two days after four key Kinahan cartel members were arrested on their way to carry out a suspected hit on a Hutch gang enforcer.

The suspected target is understood to be a major player in the Dublin criminal outfit and the attempted hit on Monday was “one of the most elaborate” officers have seen.

Among those in custody is a convicted criminal who was released from prison earlier this year and regarded as one of Ireland’s most dangerous men.
