Copper Face Jacks celebrates as firm’s profits rise to €72million

- BY GORDON DEEGAN

THE money continued to roll in last year for the company behind the country’s best known nightclub as accumulated profits soared to €72million.

Breanagh Catering Ltd, the company that operates Copper Face Jacks on Dublin’s Harcourt Street, recorded pre-tax profits of €5.16million.

Boosted by the Dubs’ All-ireland win in September last year and a booming nightlife in the capital, the cash mountain at the Coppers firm last year jumped from €54.79million to €59.84million. The company enjoyed the increase in pre-tax profits after the company’s gross profit – including unspecified “other operating income” – increased by 8.5% going from €11.35million to €12.32million in the 12 months to the end of January 31 this year.

The €5.1million in pre-tax profits of last year following pre-tax profits of €5million in 2015, €4.9million in 2014 and €5.5million in 2013.

Last year, accumulated profits increased from €67.58million to €71.96million.

The club– owned by former garda Cathal Jackson and housed in the Jackson Court Hotel – has s amassed the massive cash pile over the years as a result of its enduring popularity. The club opened in 1995 and a number of new entrants have entered the lucrative scene in recent years but armed with its €59.9million cash pile, the directors of Breanagh state that “the company is proactive in trying to stay ahead of competition”.

The nightclub operates seven nights a week and contains six bars, two covered beer gardens, a cocktail bar and VIP facilities.
