Suranne’s ‘kidnap drama therapy’

-

DOCTOR Foster star Suranne Jones has revealed she found her new Sky show Save Me “healing”, following the death of her mother just before filming.

Suranne, 39, stars as Claire in the drama, which follows the abduction of her 13-year-old daughter, Jody.

Her heartache is intensified when Claire’s former lover and Jody’s estranged father, Nelly, is accused of grooming and kidnapping her.

Talking about filming, Suranne said: “It was a really difficult time personally.

“I’d just lost my mother in real life and just had a child so actually going to work and telling stories like this is therapeutic in a bizarre way because you can find a connection The actress with mum Jenny Ashley Walters & Noel Clarke to Claire. It was difficult but I came out of it feeling like something had shifted, something had happened, a healing.”

The former Corrie actress’s mum, Jenny, passed away last Christmas and Suranne has said of her loss: “You have to Suranne and Lennie in Save Me

give yourself time to understand what’s happened.”

Save Me’s creator and star Lennie James, 52, expanded on the show: “Nelly sets out to prove he didn’t do it but more importantly to find the person who did take his kid. He comes back into contact with Jody and Claire, so it’s about the ripples that causes but also the ripples among friends and community.”

Sky announced the show will be airing next year, alongside other new dramas, A Discovery of Witches, with Teresa Palmer and Matthew Goode, and Bulletproof, starring Ashley Walters. He plays officer Pike, a family man who is trying to escape from his father’s shadow.

He forms a police duo with bad boy Bishop, played by Noel Clarke. Ashley and Noel co-created it with The Football Factory’s Nick Love.
