ELIZABETH I may have said she had the body of a weak and feeble woman – but the body of work of the actress playing her includes Oscars, Golden Globes, Baftas and Emmys.

The queen turns up in the festive special of BBC2’S Upstart Crow to watch William Shakespeare (David Mitchell) perform his latest play. In A BEATLES legend Sir Paul Mccartney is a flop at playing gigs live... in his recurring dream.

The Fab Four frontman told how the nightmare has haunted him for more than 50 years.

Despite wowing audiences round the world since the 60s, Sir Paul,

75, said: “Ever since I started performing there is a dream I still have which is you are in a stadium playing with The Beatles or with this band and people start leaving and it is like, ‘OK Christmas Crow, he is worried about making the right impression and fears his play, titled Eighth Night during the show, might need some work.

Hopefully, this Elizabeth has the sense (and sensibility) to see his talent.

One BBC insider said: “This actress is unrecognisable but absolutely brilliant. She’s both stern and funny.”

Can you guess who she is? what are we doing wrong’, we try to pull out the bigs ones but they’re still leaving. You wake in a cold sweat.” Ignoring his fears, Sir Paul is back on the road with huge gigs full of Beatles classics lined up in Australia and New Zealand. Insisting the songs feel fresh, he said: “It’s like rediscovering them.” Sir Paul told ABC: “When everyone is singing Hey Jude it is like we all don’t care about the bad news and are concentrating on this great little moment.”
