Windy travellers are unfiltered and won’t panda to anyone

-

DARTS legend Bobby George has clearly not opted for the quiet life in his old age.

Last month we saw him on a cannabis road trip with the likes of Pam ‘Pat Butcher’ St Clement from Eastenders and Christopher Biggins.

Last night he was back for another TV mission – to survive a few weeks travelling the world with Miriam Margolyes. Don’t get me wrong. I think Miriam is fabulous.

She’s certainly the star of the show in BBC1’S golden years travelogue The Real Marigold On Tour.

However, by her own admission, she’s not the easiest of companions. If the farting doesn’t get you, the sporadic grumpiness will.

Speaking of which, for a minute last night I thought her windy reputation had preceded her. When the group arrived at Chengdu airport in China the first person they bumped into outside was wearing a breathing mask. Turns out the masks are simply a precautionary measure against airborne viruses and a different kind of pollution.

As always, Miriam was good value – as were Bobby and the other OAPS Wayne Sleep and Rosemary Schrager.

The highlight was their visit to a giant panda sanctuary where Miriam became genuinely emotional on meeting one of these magnificent beasts for the first time.

It’s fair to say Rosemary wasn’t quite so impressed.

She didn’t actually use the words, “Get over it, luv – it’s just a flippin’ bear” but she might as well have done.

That’s the best thing about this series. The celebrities have absolutely zero filter.
