Shock claims over duck egg’s

GANG victim Caine Mccormackk­irwan sourced the car used in his father’s murder, it was dramatical­ly claimed yesterday.

The dead man, who was well-known to gardai, had linked up with West Dublin thugs associated with a notorious criminal.

It was alleged the mobster asked the dad of one, 24, to find a car that would be used by a gang.

That vehicle was delivered and subsequent­ly used in the murder of Noel “Duck Egg” Kirwan – his father. A source said: “There is a lot of stories going around that Caine was asked by the gang to get a car, this car was used then in the murder of his dad.

“He had no idea until after murder what was going on.

“Caine had a lot of involvemen­t with a lot of Dublin criminals. He saw himself as a bit of a gangster.

“But after what happened with Duck Egg he had been hell-bent on seeking revenge for the shooting.

“There is a lot of informatio­n out the there that he was double-crossed last Friday and met the same gang again who killed him.”

It emerged earlier this week that Mccormack-kirwan, who also used the name Caine Kirwan, arranged to meet the volatile criminal on the night gardai believe he was murdered.

The victim, whose dad was a longtime pal of Gerry “The Monk” Hutch, left his home and travelled to meet the gangster or his associates last Friday night. Investigat­ors believe
