IRISH TEEN MOWED DOWN IN OZ BRAWL
Woman, 20, charged with murder after car hits students
AN Irish teenager has been killed after a car allegedly mowed him down on the pavement following a mass brawl in Australia.
Jacob Cummins, 17, originally from Dublin, died after the vehicle ploughed into him and five other students in Perth. A 20-year-old woman has been charged with murder.
A witness said he “saw blood everywhere” and the scene was “chaotic”. The other teenagers hit
by the car remain in a serious condition in hospital.
A witness told Nine News Perth they rushed outside their home after hearing a crash to find people scattered across the street in the Canning Vale suburb.
She said: “There was a big accident right in front of our house... we’ve seen the casualty next to the red car.. and then the next one just [a] few metres away.
“There’s another four, you know, it’s just scattered.”
The alleged driver was later charged with murder and four counts of attempting to unlawfully kill and will appear in Perth Magistrates Court today.
Detective Sergeant Matt Lewis told ABC Radio Perth: “This was unrelated young people that have ended up having a disagreement and it’s just ended up spilling out and becoming bigger than it really needed to be.”
Cops believe the shocking incident was sparked by a prearranged fight between two teenagers from opposing schools at a park two kilometres away.
By 3.30pm at least 60 people, including adults, were brawling in a car park of a Mcdonald’s. Two other teenagers, a boy and a girl, were stabbed in the melee.
Dozens of people last night paid tribute to Jacob on social media.
