THE WORLD’S MOST EXPENSIVE PRESENTS C4, 9pm

WHILE we are in the midst of Christmas overspend, this jaw-dropping show might make you feel slightly better about all the cash you are haemorrhaging.

Meeting high-end suppliers of luxury goods, this is an insight into the outrageous things bought by some of the wealthiest people on the planet. And apparently – our hearts bleed – it’s tough being super rich, because what do you buy for the person who has everything?

Well, let me enlighten you. One of the options is a 24-carat gold-plated bicycle, worth €285,000, or maybe a million-dollar watch and a bouquet of gold-plated roses, a snip at €7,000. Meanwhile, one supplier, tapping into the recent trend of grown-up colouring books, has created a lavish leather-bound version, complete with bespoke hand-drawn pictures.

“It’s not just a colouring book, it’s a tapestry of emotions... an heirloom,” we’re told. It costs a mere €27,000, and that doesn’t even include a pack of colouring pencils.

And while you’ve got the credit card out, it follows that your pet should get in on the action too, perhaps with a €50,000 doggy couture ballgown?

As you race around Toys R Us and Asda, desperately snapping up bargains, this is a bizarre, yet unrelentingly fascinating peek into a completely different world.
