CARTY: UNPREDICTABLE BRIVE WILL BE A BATTLE

- BY JOHN FALLON

Connacht v Brive, Sat, 3.00pm

CONNACHT out-half Jack Carty says there is no danger of them underestimating Brive at the Sportsground on Saturday.

Carty, who led the way as Connacht chalked up their third win in a row in the European Challenge Cup in Brive at the weekend, said: “If we were to get a win, and hopefully a bonus point win next week, it will put us in good stead for the Oyonnax and Worcester game away.

“But we won’t get ahead of ourselves. If we can keep the pressure on the teams below us and then roll into the inter-pros it will be huge for us.”

However, it will be hard to predict what way Brive, with just one win from three, will approach the contest.

“They had a couple of changes from last week but you saw the mentality they came with against us,” said Carty.

“We don’t know what they are going to be like, they have a big game the following week against Agen.

“We can only focus on ourselves, getting back to the Sportsground. It’s a huge game in terms of our pool but also it runs into the inter-pros,” added Carty.

The 25-year old’s try edged Connacht back into a lead they

LFnever lost after 49 minutes when he sprinted from inside halfway, executed a perfect dummy pass, to score under the posts, left.

Of his try in the 38-31 win in France, Carty added: “I was delighted, it’s not something I have been able to do as much of. I was lucky enough that it opened up for me and I had the lads outside me to push defenders off. It was a bit of a lucky one but

I will take it.”
