Bony on song is key for Clement

- BY ADRIAN KAJUMBA

FINALLY, Wilfried Bony has given Swansea fans reason to go wild, wild, wild again.

His half-hearted singing effort may not have been worthy of X Factor, but at least Bony is living up to his chant – an adapted version of Slade and Quiet Riot’s Cum on Feel the Noize, which he memorably sang in Swansea’s creative unveiling video to mark his return during the summer.

Two goals in his previous two games have given the Welsh club fresh belief he can resume the talismanic role from his first spell and that all is not lost.

The first goal, at Stoke of all places, was no more than a consolation. But his winner against West Brom on Saturday to secure Swansea’s first win in eight Premier League outings is precisely the sort of contribution Bony was re-signed for.

What he would have given for one last night as he saw Manchester City’s irrepressible David Silva (2), fellow midfield master Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero steal the show by scoring at the other end.

His goals have been a long time coming, the first arriving in his ninth appearance since his £12million return. And Bony (above) has been slow to get up and running again after two and a half years away from the Liberty Stadium. The absence set him back in terms of form and fitness, having left in January 2015 as one of the top flight’s more accomplished strikers.

The £28m move to Manchester City didn’t go to plan. What was designed to be a season-long loan at Stoke last term wasn’t even that fulfilling.

Paul Clement needs Bony firing on all cylinders to save Swansea, having lost Fernando Llorente and Gylfi Sigurdsson to Tottenham and Everton.

Now he is scoring some goals for Swansea – as his terrace song implores him to do – boss Clement has reason to be hopeful.
