Tenn out of ten for big Sizing

-

IT was great to be back in action at Taunton on Thursday and even better to be back in the winner’s enclosure with Sizing Tennessee in Cheltenham yesterday.

Tennessee hadn’t completed in his two previous runs and did in my shoulder in Ascot the last day. But he was good this time.

He’s not straightforward. And Cheltenham takes jumping. But he has a big engine and, with a couple of exceptions, jumped well.

He put the race to bed and galloped to the line – he’s a real stayer and not a bad horse when he gets his jumping together.

Weather permitting, I’m heading for Hereford today, to ride VISION DES FLOS in a novice hurdle that, he should win. This fellow won the Land Rover a t Punchestown for Robert Tyner and was highly tried on his hurdle debut at Chepstow, when he ran a lovely race to finish third behind Poetic Rhythm in the (Grade 2) Persian War.

He disappointed us the last day in Cheltenham, a well-beaten fourth to On The Blind Side, which won again in Sandown last week.

That run, five weeks ago, was too bad to be true. He has been freshened up since then and is in good form.

We’ve opted to go to Hereford for an easier option, hoping to give the horse a confidence-boosting win. But it all depends on an 8.00am inspection as there was snow on the course yesterday.

Whatever happens today, I’ll be in Thurles tomorrow for two rides, CREATION, for Gigginstown, in the listed mares novice hurdle and TAKE THE CASH for Andy Mcnamara, who rang early in the week to book me, in the Molony Cup.

I won on Creation in Tipperary in October before she finished second to Just Janice in a Grade 3 mares race in the north. She flopped against the ‘boys’ in Navan last time, behind Samcro.

She’ll be better off back against mares tomorrow. But it won’t be easy against the likes of DAWN SHADOW and TRUE SELF.
